Klimt and his strong allegorical subjects inspired this Tarot designed by A.A. Atanassov. Every now and then a fundamental aspect of the artwork of the great Viennese artist emerges, or rather the revival of figurative and compositional aspects of Hellenic classicism. A revival with roots in the Nietzschean culture that indicates a return to the origin; that is, to that ancient Greek world where authentic aesthetic and ethical models can still be found uncontaminated.
The symbol inherent in this deck is perfectly coherent with that symbolist culture that also gave original to Klimt’s artwork. The pictorial images of the Viennese artist are, in fact, full of hermeticism: his works seem to be depictions of a mystery and even more so an expression of emotions and drives. And so Adorno and his Aesthetic Theory, which traces the essence of art to an enigma, comes to mind.
Complete with instruction booklet.
The Bulgarian illustrators Iassen Ghiuselev (the major arcana) and Atanas Atanassov (the minor arcana) were inspired by the great Renaissance master Leonardo da Vinci in creating this deck which, through the immortal images of the Italian artist, has a profound symbolic and artistic significance.
