Born in London in 1867, Rackham confirmed his calling when he illustrated a popular edition of Grimm’s Fairy Tales shortly followed shortly after by The Legend of Sleepy Hollow and Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens – a proper beginning for an artists who would draw readers into the realms of myth, legend, and fairies for the rest of his life.
The drawings in the tarot deck by Karen Vogel and Vicki Noble reflect Goddess and earth-based cultures from all over the world and throughout history. Vogel’s own reflection on the meaning and use of the cards is described as `a fundamental healing process for reaching beyond the limitations of gender roles found in our society`.
78 enchanted Arcana, with instructions. The enchanted, marvelous, and strange world of the fairies emerges from Celtic mythology in a dizzying array of colours, sensations, and emotions as old as air and stone. The confines between two worlds are always near, and an innocent heart is capable of observing from beyond.
Size: 66 x 120 mm, 78 cards
This Tarot, with its mystical forms, contains both poetic and existential messages. Infinite emotions are revealed in the delicate lines of tempera and pastels, as if imprisoned in the fragile outline of a stained-glass window. Touching these ‘crystalline figures’ means entering a world of pure beauty and love.
